Some Services

Repair price ranges are dependent upon the work involved and include spares up to £10 value.

FAQ

Probably, yes. There is not enough room here to list all services and all hardware, so if you don’t see what you want in this limited list, please get in touch.

It is difficult to give an accurate price for any one repair. Each repair is different. We prefer to give a range of pricing for each system that most common repairs will fall into.

You’ll see £40-£60 is a common figure, and most repairs will fall into that price range. Where abouts depends upon the complexity of the repair. For instance a RAM fault may be relatively simple to diagnose and repair, but a black screen fault can be more complex to track down.

Prices include any parts required up to a value of £10. Realistically, this covers many RAM problems and simple fixes.

Where parts are required that are more expensive, you will be contacted for approval before continuing.

Yes – All work carried out is guaranteed for at least 3 months.

It is difficult to guarantee anything beyond this, simply due to the advanced age of the hardware being worked on and depending on its use and storage, the limited remaining lifespan it inevitably has.

Although each item is tested thoroughly before it leaves, it is impossible to guarantee the entire unit will not develop further faults.

Because of this, the guarantee is limited to the actual work itself, or modification itself.

The reliability of these old retro computers and consoles can vary hugely. Largely this comes down to the amount of use, but even lack of use has an effect on longevity. Heating and cooling over many a summer and winter, moisture, humidity, vibration and other mechanical factors all take their toll.

Where a replacement part has been fitted, it is likely the replacement part is of similar age to the item being repaired and possibly salvaged from another unit. It is impossible to guarantee salvaged parts, sadly, as they are often the only option available.

Some repairs are offered as a temporary solution to extend the useful life, such as laser adjustment and to some extent also disk drive adjustment, head cleaning etc. Old disks can rapidly clog drive heads, old plastic can become brittle, old springs can weaken or break and perishing rubber can quickly deteriorate with use. These repairs cannot be guaranteed.

We will always do our best to offer support though, even beyond 3 months, but may request further payment for further work.

We’re very glad of it actually. Please Get in Touch 🙂

For whichever value of “this”, the answer is most likely yes.

There are supply chain issues at the moment though which is making it difficult to get hold of many console mods, and they tend to sell out quickly when they are restocked.

If you have a mod in mind, it is often best to purchase it yourself and forward it with your console for installation.

As with all hidden chests, it is a real treasure trove but not the easiest to find. You’ll be glad you did though!

The address is:
Unit A, Wedgbury Way, Brierley Hill, DY5 3JU

There is a map and details here but it’s easy if you navigate to the postcode in Google maps.

The short answer is Yes.

If you’re not able to drop your items in to Hidden Chest Gaming, you can send them by post. A small postage charge will be required to cover the return postage.

Please ensure all items are separately wrapped in bubble wrap or other suitable packaging and that you choose a sturdy, reusable box – preferably double walled – as it will ideally be reused to return your items to you.

The postal address for sending packages to will be provided by email when ordering.
